About us

Handmade soap, made in New Zealand with quality ingredients, passion and dedication.

This is a small home-based hobby business in the beautiful town of Taupo.

I have always had a love of all things crafty and thought I'll give handmade soap a go and fell totally in love with it ! That was 10 years ago! Initially I only made a few small batches for home use and family & friends. When the kids were doing a Business studies topic at school and had to produce a product , guess what they wanted to do? Soap, of course ! I ordered a variety of fragrances and additional stock and and off they went  to make their soap, with my strict supervision and quality control. It was a huge success for the kids and I was even more addicted to handmade soap making. So as soon as the kids were done with my soap making equipment I went straight back to making more soap than ever. Only one problem, I can't use or giveaway all the soap that I make so decided to try and sell them because there is no way that I can stop making soap, just love it too much!

I use vegetable and plant oils, butters, essential oils, fragrance oils, skin safe or natural colours in my recipes.  I do not use animal fats(tallow) in my soaps. The palm oil that I use is from a sustainable source.

I make my soap from scratch, with the traditional cold process method. Oils are mixed with lye and a chemical process, saponification, takes place - this is when the oils start to turn into soap. This batter gets stirred by hand or stick blender until it reaches a thicker consistency. Now the essential or fragrance oils and colour is added. This mixture is poured into a mould and covered. After about 24 hours the soap is ready to unmould and cut into bars. These cut bars now need to cure/harden for a minimum of 4 weeks.

All my soaps are made right here in my kitchen. I make them in small batches and hand cut it so they may differ from batch to batch.

All my recipes are formulated to produce a hard bar of soap that is moisturising and lathers up beautifully and is suitable for all skin types, even those with sensitive skin.

I am more than happy to make custom batches of soap should you want bigger quantities or a fragrance that is not currently in stock

And remember, handmade soap does not like to sit in a puddle of water, so leave it on a self draining soap dish.
